Supreme Court Thoughts...

Jun. 26th, 2008 | 03:42 pm

Oh Supreme Court, how you tear my heart so...

On the one hand, the fact that you overturned the Washington DC gun ban is wonderful and, indeed, Constitutional. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

But then, on the other hand, you want to outlaw the death penalty for the most evil people in our society, child rapists? How is injection cruel and unusual?

Oh that's right, because child rape isn't murder, and murder is apparently only thing that we can kill the guilty for, and even then only sometimes. Great.

I mean, just think about it: child rape. Why can't we, as Americans, have things that are so hated that everyone will know their punishment if they do it and are found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt? Hell, now you can go around killing people and, depending on the state you live in, just chill for the rest of your life. This is insane.

If you rape a child, you don't need to be in our society anymore. It's as simple as that. Ironically, it's often the people who shout "rape and incest" from the mountain side regarding the dismemberment of fetuses who are against the death penalty from those who actually commit the crimes. Apparently liberals care more about the criminals than both the fetus and the rape victim.

Even better, Obama says he disagrees with the Court's decision on the death penalty for child rapists, thus making him look moderate before an election. Not that I believe him. I'm still waiting to see what McCain says, though I'm kind of scared to find out.

Life Update: jeans/self-important squirrels

Jan. 14th, 2008 | 02:30 pm

So today I am wearing jeans for the first time in like, 5 years, at least. I actually think it's more like 7 years but five is a very safe estimate.

So far I'm not too impressed with this line of clothing. I mean, really. Firstly, they don't wave with my movement. They just rigidly stay there, eventually working their way up into going behind the tongue of my shoe, AKA the most annoying and hideous looking way pants could possibly be/look.

And the biggest problem is the pocket 1) placement and 2) room. On khakis and cargo pants (or really any other kind of pants save jeans including dress pants) the pockets are "side" pockets as opposed to "top" pockets on jeans. I generally put my wallet in the front pocket of my pants. You can't do that with jeans. The thought of sitting on my wallet sounds rather awkward and dangerous considering I keep a cellphone battery and SIM card adapter in there!

Jeans would also make concealed carry quite a bit more uncomfortable and less concealed. If I were to keep a gun on my leg I would not be able to get to it in a reasonable amount of time. Indeed, with the jeans I am wearing now (which are not tight at all) it would indeed be easier to ask the burglar/rapist/mass-murderer to please hold on a minute while I take off my pants, grab my gun, re-do my pants and then get in the game. Uh-huh.

Also, most of you know my callous angst toward that animal known as the "squirrel". I made the observation this morning, after observing a squirrel in wait on the side of a telephone pole while I was about 300 feet away, that squirrels are the most self-important creatures on the planet, excluding politicians, of course. It looked at me, decided that I *could* be a threat, looked the other direction, spotted a garbage truck about 1,000 feet away, weighed it's options and then dramatically DASHED across the street. Let's take a moment to give a round of applause to this oh-so-brave, self important squirrel! They really do think that everyone's out to get them. News to you, squirrel: this isn't some country where people kill squirrels to eat. This is America. We eat cows and chickens. So why don't you just be thankful for where you live and stop thinking anyone gives you a second glance. Seriously, the squirrel problem is almost as bad as the welfare system. I think it's time we imitated Europe and exterminated all of our squirrels. (Except for Britain, which has squirrels that still eat children left unattended.) Nothing good could come from showing those animals compassion.
