Things have got to change, and, slowly, they are. As I read some of the comments from the gatherings and marches around the country, one of the things that struck me was this idea of "We have simply got to be nice!" As in, don't ever be brazen or blunt.
Meekness is not your tone of voice or word choice. Meekness is the understanding of who you are (or, rather, who you aren't) in the midst of everything and everyone else. We needn't always be quiet, speaking in tones of religious respect while speaking of the women who want to kill their children. We mustn't try to be "cool pro-lifers" in order to win pro-choicers to our side. We have got to speak the truth.
Pointing out that pro-choicers stand for death, ageism, genocide, euthanasia and racism isn't being "mean". It's pointing the truth out. These are the people also standing for fornication, homosexuality, sodomy, drunkenness, "experimentation", defeatism and narcissism, among a plethora of other things. It is not hate or anger to point these obvious things out: it is love and it is truth.
You can be loving in confrontation, and we need confrontation. Not rebellion, not violence, but confrontation. We need to get 400,000 pro-lifers out to the March for Life next year. We need all of those people who attend the march to call in to their politicians once per month. We need all of those pro-lifers and then some to go on their knees to pray before a merciful God for mercy on our country. We need to be in front of the clinics, in front of the pro-choice gatherings, in front of college campuses and in front of high schools, presenting—no, confronting—the public with the truth about abortion. This is no time to worry about the effects of abortion pictures on the minds of teenagers who shoot up prostitutes in video games, or offending a woman who has had an abortion should she see a plastic fetus: children are dying.
We speak much of the correlation between abortion and Nazism, but do we respond the same way?
Hundreds of thousands of pro-lifers congregate every year in Washington DC to, as Jill Stanek points out, commemorate the deaths of those children who have died as well as to celebrate life.
I really wanted to go to Washington DC this year, but I am going to opt out of going for the March for Life in order to do to the National Right to Life convention in July. The March for Life has become very blogger friendly, and I would love to meet everyone. Maybe next year!
I will be attending the Roe vs. Wade rally in Salem on Sunday at 2:30. I spoke there last year and was well-received. I cannot believe it's already been a year. Crazy! This year I'll be going as a participant and I'll take a bunch of pictures. I still need to figure out which sign to make! Here are the narrowed-down choices:

This is a pro-life event, so any of the more humorous signs would be for our amusement only :)
There's really a lot to say. They were very nice, and said a lot that I would like to look into. I have already gotten a few e-mails telling me I've been "duped". Well, OK, considering I haven't yet changed my mind on anything!
Stay tuned!
It went well. It actually went exactly how I envisioned. They have a lot of good points to bring up, especially regarding the Supreme Court, so I hope to research that a little more, talk to some people and either go back on the radio or publish my findings on here.
Perhaps it's my inherent love for "weird" groups (Survivors, Center for Bio-Ethical Reform, the folks protesting outside the houses of abortionists/contractors in Colorado), but I like them, which is obviously more than could be said for NRLC :). The fact remains, however, that both ideologies will clash and there's nothing that can be done about it. There isn't much wiggle room; you have to pick a side (or, like most Americans, ignore abortion altogether).
They gave me a lot to think about. Again, I'll post the link here when they get it up.
Catch up on what the deal is here, here, here and here just to get you started. Or you can click on the "American Right to Life" tag on my sidebar.
Does anyone have any questions that you would like for me to present to them? I'll screen comments and let you ask away. I'm sure I'll be able to get to them.
I anticipate that this will be a good discussion. As most of you know, I'm somewhere in the middle, trying to find out when it's "smart" to pass laws and when it's detrimental.
EDIT: Um, I told her that Portland has lots of cool places to go, and I was thinking, you know, Indian, Italian, Thai, BBQ, etc. She said, "What about organic?"
I must admit that I have no idea where such a restaurant exists in Portland, if at all. *researches*

*This is my personal favorite, but because I am celibate at the moment (due to not being married), it probably wouldn't make sense.
Leave a comment if you had a close 2nd or 3rd!
Also, I should mention that the "Child-rape" argument comes from Ann Coulter, so she gets partial credit for that one.
