LaShawn Has Issues with Obama

Jun. 10th, 2008 | 10:28 am

LaShawn Barber, a black blogger who is prolife, writes today:

Barack Hussein Obama is an “articulate” infanticide-supporting liberal who doesn’t like being called a liberal.

And he’s going to be our next president.

I have no grand theories about why this is so. I just have a feeling he’ll be living in the White House come November. I feel no “racial pride” that he’s the first black major party nominee or that he’ll be the first black president of the United States, because values trump race in my world. Anyone who believes it’s OK for “doctors” to crush the heads of infants in the birth canal isn’t getting my vote. If you’re black and pro-life but feel “torn” between racial pride about his nomination and disgust for his pro-death stance, shame on you. Get your priorities straight.

Ouch. It should be noted that LaShawn is not a "pro-life only blogger". She blogs mostly about music and, when she does blog about politics, she covers a wide array of topics. Apparently some people just can't get past infanticide.

New Years Post

Dec. 31st, 2007 | 10:22 am
mood: lethargic lethargic

Inspired by other bloggers and LJ friends, I've decided to write a New Years Post.

Obviously my ever-going goal is to become more and more holy. I don't mean a generic "get closer to God" resolution—I literally mean I want to become more and more holy. I want to get rid of the worldly actions in my life, but even more than that: worldly ways of thinking. What goes on in our minds and hearts are often much worse (and much different) than what we do in our actions.

I still have such a long way to go in my "quest" to be holy, but I will give the Lord Jesus the credit for where I am at now. He's brought me much farther along this year, including but not limited to giving me new hope of change, healing me from things that happened in the past and revealing new wounds that need to be healed.

I have a greater hope now more than ever of getting married, and the Lord is helping me to realize that I don't have to get married while I am in my early '20s. I can wait until I'm 24-27 like most people. That's been kind of hard for some reason. I am seeing that before I can love my wife as the Messiah loves the Church, I must, in fact, know how much the Messiah loves me. A daunting task from the looks of it, but not impossible.

If there could be a trait that I wish to exhibit more this year, it would be compassionate love. To love people in the practical ways that the Messiah did, and to act on that love. It is very hard to do loving acts without a loving heart. Indeed, doing such actions while your heart is not in it just makes your heart harder. I am full of prejudice, bias, class-snobbery and a plethora of other, wicked things. I want to be cleaned out of all of that.

Jill Stanek posted a verse that she wants to focus on for the year and invited us to do it was well, so I thought I'd do it. Mine is Ephesians 5:1 (and really the whole chapter):

"Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God."

I will add that to my sidebar sometime today.

Top Blogs
This year was my first year of really reaching out of LiveJournal and reading the (mostly political and pro-life) blogs. Here are my top 5 for the year.

5) Michelle Malkin: Michelle Malkin is a true conservative, which is why I like to read her blog. She is especially good at following the stories regarding illegal immigration.

4) American Thinker: I just started reading American Thinker about a month ago regularly, but I enjoy it very much. It's not a blog in the strict sense of the word (though they do actually have one), but rather a collection of guest articles every day. * Expect a guest article sometime in the next month from your favorite pro-lifer:) *

3) Jivin J: JivinJ is great at following the stories regarding embryonic stem-cell research. He and his wife just had a baby! Congratulations!

2) Julia Gorin: Julia's blog is oft mentioned here, and for good reason. She's a pro-life Jew, which (of course!) first got my attention. She blogs mostly on politics and the Kosovo situation, something that virtually no American knows anything about. I would definitely suggest that people start reading her blog.

1) Jill Stanek: I have known about Jill for a while and would, from time to time, catch her blog entries as they popped up in ProLifeBlogs. But it wasn't until I stopped by her blog and really started reading that I realized what an amazing blogger she is. She has done an extensive job on reporting many events, especially the Planned Parenthood situation in Aurora, Illinois. God has used her blog to reach many, many people. She is also a must-add for any pro-life person on my friends-list—her entries would interest you even if you are not a fanatic like me.

Also, my resolution this year is to do extensive research for a book. This book has been on my heart for a while now, but I really want to crack down this year and get the bulk of the research done.
